| Title | Quantum Error Correction and Gauge Theory |
| Abstract | In general, computers can exhibit errors due to interactions with the environment.Quantum error correction (QEC) provides a framework for correcting errors inquantum computers while it is known that a satisfactory implementation of QECrequires substantial computational resources. It is therefore highly important toexplore quantum error-correction methods that are easier to implement. Gaugetheories, as exemplified by electromagnetism, provide a framework for describingthe fundamental forces of nature. In this talk, I will discuss the relationship betweenthe apparently two difference concepts: quantum error correction and gauge theory. |
