Kyushu University’s Institute of Mathematics for Industry (IMI) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) will jointly host the 2nd Malaysia–Japan Symposium on Mathematical and Statistical Modelling 2026 on September 3 (Thursday). Following last year’s symposium held at Kyushu University, the second edition will be held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, where UTM is located.

The symposium will bring together researchers and students from Japan and Malaysia to present and exchange ideas on the latest research and applications in mathematical and statistical modelling.

From Kyushu University, students from the Graduate School of Mathematics and the Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences for Industry will give presentations. Prof. CESANA Pierluigi and Assoc. Prof. Atsushi Tero from IMI will also give invited talks. Students from UTM will also give presentations.

Speakers from both universities and research institutions and industry will participate, covering a wide range of topics from mathematical and statistical modelling to AI and quantum machine learning. The symposium will be held in a hybrid format, so participants can join either onsite in Malaysia or online. We welcome participation from everyone, from undergraduate students to faculty and staff.
